about

Once upon a time ... In 2008, as I listened extensively to Claudio Monteverdi's opera Orpheo,
I got the idea to write a chamber opera myself. The resulting fairytale evolved, inspired by
C. G. Jung's Hero's Journey and is set in a Monteverdi-inspired Renaissance atmosphere.

It's the story of a girl's quest for her identity. This quest leads her to her transformations between
being a pig during daytime and her human form at night. She is confronted with surprising
and frightening encounters and complex challenges along her path. During her dream-like travel
through a world of shadows, she experiences isolation and fear, until she finally reaches the
golden field. There she can cast away her pig identity and travel with like-minded people
in open spaces.

Since writing this musical fairytale, Das Mädchen auf der Windwelle (The Girl on the Windwave),
our ensemble has performed it in many variations. In developing these pieces the intense artistic exchange with my sister Nata and the two other musicians, Giga and David, was extremely important. Now after twelve years of performances,
we are thrilled to release the recording under the title ORPHEA'S JOURNEY.
